Broward College’s District Director of Supplier Relations and Diversity Receives National Recognition Anthea Pennant Named in Top 25 Women in Power Impacting Diversity

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (May 24, 2018) – Broward College announced that District Director of Supplier Relations and Diversity at Broward College and Manager of the Small Disadvantaged Business Program, Anthea Pennant was recently named to the 2018 Top 25 Women in Power Impacting Diversity by DiversityPlus Magazine.

Pennant was recognized for her leadership qualities and abilities to effect change by increasing supplier diversity.  She leverages her role at Broward College to enhance supplier diversification by developing community outreach and engagement initiatives to raise awareness of institutional procurement policies, procedures and practices to promote equal opportunities for diverse suppliers.

"We are extremely proud of Anthea's national recognition and fully support her innovative strategies to enhance diversity among our suppliers, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our community," said Broward College President J. David Armstrong, Jr.

In addition, Pennant develops training on supplier diversity issues, regularly forges new partnerships, and cultivates public sector resources.  She is passionately dedicated to the advancement of the underserved and agrees with the philosophy that increasing diversity in the procurement process is a socio-economic imperative. She also has a clear understanding of the important legacy of wealth creation through entrepreneurship and the need to celebrate supplier diversity.

A longtime advocate for the removal of systemic impediments in the procurement practices on private and government-funded contracts, among her many successes is Broward County's Sheltered Market Program, an initiative she helped to spearhead while serving as chair of the Broward County Small Business Advisory Board. This program continues to help provide a local certified SBE preference component in the County's bid process.
