Program includes work danced to "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple
Davie, Fla. (March 29, 2018) – The Bailey Hall Mainstage series culminates with a dazzling program by RIOULT Dance NY on Wednesday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m.
The program includes an exciting new work, "Fire in the Sky" based on Deep Purple's classic rock hit, "Smoke on the Water." In a review of a New York City performance of "Smoke on the Water," Critical Dance reported "What it does is recreate a time and place, including the explosive energy and anti-establishment behavior endemic to it, and invites the audience to participate in the fun without leaving their seats. It's difficult not to get wrapped up in it. It's a dance/concert/party."
Founded in 1994, RIOULT Dance NY fast became an established name in modern dance with a reputation for presenting the sensual, articulate, and exquisitely musical works of Pascal Rioult. Many company members have danced with the troupe for more than a decade and Rioult has been heralded by Backstage as "perhaps the most adept and courageous choreographer in mainstream modern dance today."
RIOULT Dance NY has performed throughout North America including New York City Center Fall for Dance Festival, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, American Dance Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina and the Annenberg Center in Philadelphia, among others. Widespread international touring has brought the company to Pascal Rioult's homeland of France for the Cannes International Festival, as well as to the Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts, the Tamaulipas International Festival in Mexico, Le Grand Théâtre De Québec, and the stages of Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and others worldwide.
