Broward College South Campus Art Gallery Debuts Immersive Art Installation Focusing on Immigration and Exile

Fort Lauderdale, Fla (August 9, 2018) – Artist-in-residence and Broward College adjunct faculty member Jônatas Chimen Dias DaSilva-Benayon's interactive, multimedia exhibit, The Refugee Cathedral of the Ascending Bull, which focuses on the concepts of immigration, exile and the formation of identity, will kick-off the 2018 Broward College South Gallery Series.
The Brazilian-American artist's exhibit, designed to shed light on the migrant experience with features drawn from his personal family history, will be open to the public at The Judson A. Samuels South Campus Art Gallery, Building 69, 7200 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines from September 4- 28, 2018. Jônatas will host an opening reception on September 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. to discuss his influential work.
Jônatas's work has been featured in numerous museums, art galleries and auctions, such as The Jerusalem Biennale, The MONA Biennale, The Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum, the Jewish Museum of Florida, Miami Basel Art Week and Artexpo New York. In 2015, he was awarded the title of Artist of the Year by the Anti-Defamation League for his art series titled The Journey.
