Broward College Ranked in 2019 Best Colleges Survey by U.S. News and World Report

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Sept. 11, 2018) – For the first time, U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in education rankings, has listed Broward College as one of the top regional colleges in the South. The College was also ranked number two for ethnic diversity in the region.

"Students come to Broward College with dreams of transforming their lives, and these rankings affirm that Broward College provides those from all backgrounds the opportunity and tools they need to succeed," said President Gregory Adam Haile. "This an incredible achievement for our institution."

Broward College is a picture of unity and diversity, with two-thirds of the population representing minorities. Broward College students also represent more than 150 countries of origin and speak 45 different languages, and almost half are first-generation college students.

The U.S News rankings evaluate colleges and universities on 16 measures of academic quality. They allow prospective students to compare the quality of U.S. colleges based on widely accepted indicators of excellence, such as first-year student retention, graduation rates and the strength of the faculty. More than one-third of a school's rank comes from its success at retaining and graduating students within 150 percent of the average time (six years).

In addition to this achievement, Broward College was recently recognized as a Top Ten Finalist for the 2019 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.
