Broward College Announces Three New Appointments: General Counsel and Vice President for Public Policy and Government Affairs; Executive Director, Marketing and Strategic Initiatives; and Chief of Staff

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (September 11, 2018) – Broward College announced the appointments of Lacey D. Hofmeyer, Esq. as the new General Counsel and Vice President for Public Policy and Government Affairs; Steven Gross as Executive Director, Marketing and Strategic Initiatives, and Isabel Gonzalez as Chief of Staff.

Hofmeyer joined Broward College as General Counsel and Vice President of Public Policy & Government Affairs on Monday, August 13. Hofmeyer previously worked at Greenberg Traurig (GT), one of the largest law firms in the world for 11 years, making shareholder in 2015. She was recognized by the American Bar Association as an "On the Rise: Top 40 Young Lawyer". She is actively involved in the community and currently serves as a Board Member of Women's United of the United Way of Miami-Dade County and a Board Member of the Student Education Committee of The Florida Bar Association. Hofmeyer also serves as a Guardian Ad Litem in dependency; a writing and career coach for the Posse Foundation; as well as member of the Junior League of Miami-Dade County. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with high honors, earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law. She has a reputation for serving in a collaborative, ethical, and solutions-oriented manner.

Gross, a faculty member with Broward College, assumed the role of Executive Director of Marketing and Strategic Communications on August 14 and brings an invaluable faculty perspective to driving student enrollment and retention. During his time with Broward College, Gross has been integrally involved in course development for the Business Administration and the Bachelor of Applied Science programs as well as teaching courses in marketing, strategic management, sales, and entrepreneurship. He has over 30 years' experience in corporate marketing and advertising, having held senior management positions with Proctor & Gamble, Bozell, and Grey Advertising in Chicago. He also has extensive entrepreneurial experience and held sizable positions in Vetxcel and Medelia, Inc. Gross holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance, as well as a Master of International Affairs in International Trade and Business Development from Columbia University, a certificate from the London School of Economics/Universite Libre de Bruxelles and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University.

Gonzalez joined Broward College on September 10, as the new Chief of Staff. She previously served as the Senior Director of Communication and Strategic Initiatives for the New York City Department of Education Division of Family and Community Engagement. Prior to working with the NYC Department of Education, Gonzalez served in such positions as Manager and Senior Policy Analyst with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; Community Relations Manager for Mesa Public Schools in Arizona; and Strategic Planning and Communications Manager for the Office of the Governor of Arizona. Gonzalez was actively engaged in community outreach and mentorship, serving on the boards of Rosie's Theater Kids and Behind the Book; as well as Mentor and Coach with New Needs You a career and leadership development for first-generation college students. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University, as well as Bachelors' degrees in Political Science and Spanish from Arizona State University. She is also a 2007 Education Pioneers Graduate Fellow – working with Prince George's County Public Schools, Division of Student Services.
