Broward College Receives National Recognition for Achievements in Student Success

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Sept. 17, 2018)EAB, which harnesses the collective power of more than 1,400 educational institutions to identify and apply proven practices that help education leaders achieve their goals, has named Broward College as the winner of its Student Success Collaborative-Citizenship Award.

EAB's Collaborative Citizenship Award recognizes an institution that selflessly shares their practices and approaches to student success and strives to help their peers succeed. This year, Broward College was one of two recipients.

This is the fifth year in a row that EAB has awarded standout achievements in student success. Awardees are chosen from among the colleges, universities, and individuals that use EAB's student success management system.

"The 2018 awardees, like their predecessors, excel in using technology to amplify the efforts of advisors, faculty, administrators, and students and work collaboratively across campus to help more students stay in school and graduate," said Rich Staley, Executive Director at EAB. "The winners exemplify what schools can achieve with a campus-wide approach to student success, strong leadership, and an unrelenting commitment to helping more students reach their potential."

"At Broward College, we are continuously working to provide our students, faculty, and staff with the resources they need to be successful," said Provost & Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs & Student Services, Dr. Marie DeSanctis. "This award represents just how emphatic we are about positively impacting student success not only on our campuses but across the nation. As we learn, we share our knowledge and best practices with other institutions in Florida and the nation because together we are stronger than the sum of our parts. Together we serve the students of this nation. Together we will achieve student success beyond what is believed possible."

The following institutions and one individual also were named winners of the 2018 Student Success Collaborative Awards from EAB:

  • Return on Education Award: University at Albany – State University of New York
  • Visionary Leadership Award: Elizabeth Lambert, Keuka College
  • Collaborative Citizenship Award: University of Delaware
  • Technology Pioneer Award: Colorado Community College System

The awards were presented at the Student Success Collaborative's summit, CONNECTED, a three-day gathering of more than 800 leaders from the country's most progressive community colleges and four-year colleges and universities.
