Broward College Students Earn National Recognition for Academic Prowess

Two Broward College teams ranked in the Top 10 at the 2019 National Academic Quiz Tournament (NAQT) Championship, and eight students earned spots on the 2019 All-Florida Academic Team

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (April 5, 2019) – Broward College is celebrating the exceptional performance of its students in two academic milestones.

Two teams from Broward College placed in the top ten at the 2019 National Academic Quiz Tournament Championships on March 1 and 2. The competition took place at Valencia College, where the Broward College A-Team placed seventh overall, and B-Team placed tenth. Broward College was the second college to have two teams place in the top 10 of the final national rankings.

Eight Broward College students were also selected for the 2019 All-Florida Academic Team, which recognizes outstanding students for their academic achievement, leadership, and service to the community. This year’s team of 158 students will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Orlando, Florida on Thursday, April 4. The students include Sawdah Asim, Toni-Ann Barrett, Claudette Goico-Montes De Oca, Kevont’e Hawkins, Lauren Hernandez, Dayvana Lawson, Thamare Saint Lous, and Danielle Tjon.
