Broward College Students Inducted into Prestigious Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (April 1, 2019) – Students from Broward College's nursing program were inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society as the organization's newest chapter-at-large on March 31. The newly formed Broward College Nursing society is chartered under Florida Atlantic University's Iota Xi chapter.
The ceremony took place at FAU's College of Nursing auditorium. Fellow inductees, faculty and administrators from Broward College, FAU and Palm Beach State College joined the students as they were officially sworn-in to the prestigious honor society.
"This will have a significant impact on our nursing programs and students," said Linda A. Simunek, associate dean of the College's nursing program. "Sigma Theta Tau is a gateway to collaborating with nurses in leadership, scholarly, research and service activities. It will expand our reach, and active engagement in professional activities that are usually only available to universities with graduate level of nursing education programs."
Sigma Theta Tau is recognized as the second-largest nursing organization in the world, encompassed by more than 135,000 active members and chapters in 90 countries. The organization's mission is to advance world health and celebrate nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership and service.
