bc cares group

As part of Broward College’s ongoing commitment to support employee volunteerism, the College’s faculty, staff, and their families turned up the holiday spirit and spread cheer to children who benefit from services provided by Voices for Children of Broward County.

More than 51 people gathered at Willis Holcombe Downtown Center on Saturday, December 9th, for the BC Cares event. Their participation included making 500+ holiday cards for children in the guardian ad litem program.

Voices for Children of Broward County works to ensure that every abused, neglected, and abandoned child in Broward County has the necessary programs and resources available to meet each child’s accompanying health, educational, and social needs.  Each year, Voices works to make the foster care experience better for the over 2,500 children in our community.

Volunteers created hand-made cards by drawing, painting, and decorating individualized cards for children in the program. A total of 153 volunteer hours were logged, 96 of which were from Broward College employees. Based on the national volunteer rate, the total value of the volunteer hours amounts to $4,865, of which $3,052 can be attributed to Broward College employees.

BC Cares offers volunteer opportunities to employees and their families by making it easy for them to serve.
