FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. – Two new members joined the Broward College District Board of Trustees. These new members – Michael Caschette and Eileen LaMarca – were announced by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Friday, June 21, 2024.  The appointments are subject to confirmation from the Florida Senate.

“I am very pleased to welcome these two new Trustees to the Broward College District Board,” said interim president Donald P. Astrab, Ph.D. “I look forward to working together with all of our Board of Trustee members as we continue to move Broward College on its path to greatness.”

Below is background information on each of the Broward College District Board of Trustee members:

NEW MEMBERS

  • Michael Caschette is the founder of and a registered nurse for KIDS 1st Urgent Care. Previously, he served as the Director of Emergency Services at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Caschette earned his bachelor’s degree in nursing and his master’s degree in business administration from Florida International University.

  • Eileen LaMarca is the vice president of development for the LaMarca Group. She is currently appointed to the Board of Pilot Commissioners and was listed among the Top 100 Outstanding Women of Broward County by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County. LaMarca earned her associate degree from Palm Beach State College.

EXISTING MEMBERS

  • Alexis Yarbroughis the Broward College District Board of Trustees Chair. She is the Vice Chair of the Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission. Prior to that, she served as the former General Counsel for the Florida Department of Transportation. Yarbrough earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Miami and her juris doctor from Nova Southeastern University.

  • Zachariah "Reggie" P. Zachariah, Jr., is the Broward College District Board of Trustees Vice-Chair. He is a shareholder with Greenberg Traurig. His industry experience includes healthcare technology and services, education, insurance, manufacturing, franchises, retail, consumer products, business-to-business services, and infrastructure. Zachariah earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and his juris doctor from the University of Florida.

  • Mario Zanotti-Cavazzoniis the Senior Advisor of Organizational Transformation for CONMEBOL, the continental governing body for professional soccer in South America. He is the former Senior Vice President of Latin America for Millicom International. Zanotti-Cavazzoni earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul and his master’s degree in business administration from Universidad Católica de Asunción in Paraguay.

Agrawal – for all their hard work, due diligence and standfast support of our College,” Dr. Astrab said. “On behalf of the students, faculty and staff I thank them for their commitment to what Broward College stands for.”
