DAVIE, Fla. - Broward College's Institute for Public Safety recently hosted its 359th graduation ceremony, and its graduating class of 38 cadets will be joining the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO).

The ceremony took place Sept. 18 in Bailey Hall at the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie. An honor guard opened the ceremony with the presentation of colors. Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony delivered the principal address, followed by a response from Everline C. Thomas Jr., the class president.

Several class awards were also presented in these categories:

  • Company Commander: Vincent Giovanni DeSanctis
  • Class Scribe: Maria Lesmes-Rincon
  • Physical Fitness Proficiency: Stany Georges
  • Firearms Proficiency: Gaethan Verpile
  • Academic Excellence: Aquino Evans
  • Frankie Shivers Award: Everline C. Thomas Jr.
  • Dean Linda Wood Honor Medallion: Hoseph Jastram

Following the class awards, all 38 deputies received their badges.
