DAVIE, Fla. – There’s an old adage that says: “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.”

That’s why it is so important that we never, ever forget or let fade from our memories the events of September 11, 2001. To that end, every year on September 11, Broward College’s Institute of Public Safety holds a solemn ceremony during its morning “muster.”

“It is important that we do this,” said Wayne Boulier, the dean of the institute.

Before he was the dean of the institute, Wayne was a first responder himself, working years as a police officer in South Florida.

“These cadets are the next generation of first responders; and it was first responders who ran toward danger on September 11. By taking a moment, they acknowledge and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.”
