Joe Natoli

Joe Natoli is executive vice president and chief administrative officer of Baptist Health South Florida. Baptist Health includes 12 hospitals and more than 100 physician practices and outpatient facilities, as well as internationally renowned institutes for cancer, cardiac and vascular, orthopedics and sports medicine and neurosciences. Baptist Health is the largest private employer headquartered in Miami-Dade County and consistently ranks among the nation’s best places to work.

Joe NatoliAs chief administrative officer, he is responsible for construction and facilities management, government and community relations, hospitality and business relations, human resources, innovation, international services, legal counsel, managed care contracting, technology and digital and the Baptist Health South Florida Foundation, which raises funds to support the organization’s charitable mission.

Prior to joining Baptist Health, Mr. Natoli served for a decade as senior vice president for business and finance and chief financial officer of the University of Miami. He also served as interim chief operating officer of the University of Miami Health System, where he was responsible for University of Miami Hospital, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, physician practice plan and support departments.

Before moving to higher education and healthcare, Natoli worked for Knight Ridder, Inc., at the time, the nation’s second largest newspaper company, where he served as chairman and publisher of the company’s largest newspapers, The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News. Previously, he was president and publisher of the San Jose Mercury News and president of the Miami Herald Publishing Company. Earlier roles at the Miami Herald included general manager, vice president of operations and controller.

Mr. Natoli completed the Harvard Advanced Management and Managing Health Care Delivery programs. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of South Florida and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University. He is a former CPA and instructor of the Becker CPA Review course.

He is board chair of the American Journalism Project, a venture philanthropy organization that seeks to support “the local news our democracy deserves,” trustee of the Mitchell Wolfson Sr. Foundation and member of the Health Management and Policy Advisory Board at the University of Miami. He has chaired or co-chaired community-wide United Way campaigns in Miami-Dade County, Southeastern Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) and Silicon Valley (San Jose).

He enjoys running and cycling and has completed five marathons. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two children and five particularly talented grandchildren.
