ADDY Awards winnersDAVIE, Fla. - Seven Broward College Graphic Design students recently won five Silver ADDY Awards at the annual American Advertising Awards, hosted by the American Advertising Federation (AAF).

The awards are the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting more than 25,000 entries every year. Broward College students competed in AAF District 4, which includes Florida and the Caribbean.

"We are thrilled to see our students consistently excel in the American Advertising Awards, securing wins at the local, regional, and national levels,” said Adriana Portal, Graphic Design AS professor and program manager.

Portal said Graphic Design students have won over 80 ADDY Awards in the past eight years.

“It’s a testament to the exceptional quality of work being produced in our program,” she said. “This success not only highlights the talent and creativity of our students but also provides them with invaluable exposure to local agencies, showcasing the caliber of our program and opening doors for future opportunities."

The students who won Silver ADDY Awards in District 4 included:

  • Jimena Carbajal, "Kereru" and “Mother Mother”
  • Andrea Landaverde, "Tierra Madre Coffee"
  • Andrea Landaverde, Zharia StJean and Vanessa Rhattan, "CoCo Chips"

“It’s a huge honor winning an ADDY Award; it’s an amazing achievement to be able to add to my resumé,” said student Melanie Hosein-Finol. “Although it’s a tough competition and it took hard work to prepare everything, it’s a great honor to have been chosen for this award and stand among talented peers and competitors.”

The AAF will present the ADDY Awards at the upcoming District 4 Gala in Orlando on April 26.
