FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - On April 12, 80 Broward College faculty, staff, students and their families participated in the BC Cares event at Fort Lauderdale Beach, marking the second collaboration between Broward College, Beach Sweep America Inc. and the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Neighbor Volunteer Office.

Volunteers worked to preserve the natural beauty of the beach and protect local wildlife by collecting trash, recyclables, cigarette butts and removing hazardous waste that can endanger seagulls, turtles and other marine life.

In total, more than 400 people participated across all partner organizations, demonstrating a shared commitment to a cleaner, safer environment. With more than 160 RSVPs for the second time, this remains one of the most well-attended BC Cares events to date.

BC Cares provides volunteer opportunities that make it easy for employees and their families to give back. While its primary mission is to foster a culture of service and community engagement among Broward College faculty, staff and their families, select events also welcome students, alumni and friends of the college. These partnerships strengthen our sense of purpose and connection throughout the Broward College community.
