About Dominic Calabro

Mr. Calabro is a Seahawk alumnus, having earned his Associate of Arts degree in psychology at what was then called Broward Community College. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in social work from Florida International University as well as two master’s degrees from Florida State University – one in social work, the other in public administration. Before joining TaxWatch in 1980, Calabro served as an analyst with the Florida Senate Ways and Means Committee.

Florida TaxWatch was founded in 1979 to improve government productivity, taxpayer value, citizen understanding and encouraging responsible participation by Floridians in their state and local governments. This is accomplished by advancing productivity and sound investment in Florida’s government and through research on how tax and spend regulatory decisions affect Floridians' livelihood and quality of life.

Under Calabro's leadership, Florida TaxWatch has earned and maintained the respect of the state's most highly regarded and influential leaders and has attracted positive attention from both the citizens of Florida and the state and national media.

In addition to many business and civic honors, Calabro was named Executive of the Year by the Florida Society of Association Executives in 2006 and a Must Know Floridian by Florida Trend in 2013. He has also served on the boards of multiple organizations. Calabro resides in Tallahassee with his wife, Debbie, and four children.
