FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - It’s called the “most magical place on Earth,” with tourists flocking to Walt Disney World for vacations and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. And right now, some of the people helping them enjoy that “Disney Magic” are Broward College students.

Twenty-five students are currently part of the Disney College Internship Program, after the College reestablished its partnership with Disney post-pandemic. The students are gaining valuable working experience across a number of Disney World properties, working in areas such as casting, merchandising, resort concierge, food and beverage, and more—offering a unique opportunity to build professional skills in a truly magical setting.

Meybell Landaez, a sophomore concentrating in hospitality in the Business pathway, spent several months as a cast member at three resort restaurants.

“The college program offers a great experience, and the number of connections you make is incredible," she said. "Walt Disney World is a major corporation for hospitality, not just in the United States, but all over the world. Getting to meet people from all over the world—some on their very first vacation—is simply magical.”

Tyler Roberts, a Civil Engineering major working at the Pop Century Resort, said the program has helped him grow personally and professionally.

“I am looking to extend my internship with the Disney College Program because of the opportunities that have come before me," Roberts said. "There are constantly new places and roles that I can learn from in leadership and time management. I am using this network to branch out and see where it takes me.”

The next cohort of 25 Broward College students will head to Orlando to begin their internships in the fall term.
