DAVIE, Fla. - Broward College’s Institute of Public Safety completed a successful 2025 that saw it graduate 264 students from its police academy and 52 students from the corrections academy.

Cadets are first hired by a law enforcement agency, which then sponsors them in an academy. A police academy course is 770 hours spread across 22 weeks, while a corrections academy course is 420 hours long. Nine police academy classes and two corrections academy classes graduated in 2025.

“Their success is a testament to the resolve they found deep within, the character they cultivated under pressure, and the profound passion for public service that first called them to this path,” said Wayne Boulier, Dean of IPS. “They are the embodiment of integrity, ready to uphold the trust placed in them by their communities.”

Graduates from both academies will be serving the community through these South Florida law enforcement agencies:

  • Aventura Police Department
  • Boca Raton Police Department
  • Boynton Beach Police Department
