DAVIE, Fla. - Broward College’s Buehler Planetarium and Observatory has opened its doors to the South Florida community after a six-year absence.

The planetarium features newly upgraded equipment and is now managed by Mark Bennett, who started his astronomy career more than 40 years ago as a student worker at the planetarium. Bennett is bringing his decades of experience back to Broward College following a long stint at Miami’s Frost Science Museum.

"We are delighted to welcome the public back to the Buehler Planetarium,” Bennett said. “As we continue our legacy of celestial exploration and nighttime sky tours, we look forward to introducing exciting new programming in the near future."

The planetarium recently hosted a splashdown watch party at the conclusion of NASA’s historic Artemis II mission, followed by a reopening event that coincided with Earth Day. Upcoming events in May include live views of the night sky and the screening of Infinity Express, a film that takes the audience on an exciting journey of discovery, from the search of the solar system to the mapping of the universe.

The planetarium is located at the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie.
