FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Broward College has hired Dr. John Wensveen to serve as Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs.

“Dr. Wensveen brings decades of higher education experience to this role, and working together we will continue to implement our shared vision of making Broward College the #1 destination for academic excellence,” said President and CEO Torey Alston.

Wensveen previously served as President of the International Space University (ISU) in Strasbourg, France, where he led the world’s premier institution dedicated to space education, research, innovation, and international collaboration. Prior to ISU, he was Chief Innovation Officer at Nova Southeastern University, leading a multimillion-dollar innovation ecosystem that attracted entrepreneurs, emerging technologies, strategic partnerships, and significant external investment.

He also served previously as Vice Provost at Miami Dade College, Professor and Head of the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology at Purdue University, and Dean of Aviation at Dowling College. Wensveen has also held executive positions in the aviation and aerospace industries. He is a TEDx speaker, media contributor, and author of two leading industry books, including the best-selling Air Transportation: A Global Management Perspective.

Wensveen earned his doctorate and master’s degrees from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Victoria in Canada.
