DAVIE, Fla. - A new academic year means a slate of new and returning officers for the Student Government Association chapters at each Broward College campus.

The presidents, vice presidents, and senators all took their oaths of office Friday during an induction ceremony at the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie. Proud parents, staff and senior administrators were also part of the audience.

"We have come together to recognize and celebrate this group of students who have stepped forward as leaders, uplifting the voices of fellow students across campus," said Dr. Richard Pulido, Vice President of Student Services.

Alexis Yarbrough, Chair of the District Board of Trustees, served as the keynote speaker and commended the new officers for stepping forward to represent their fellow students.

Yarbrough noted that students have become increasingly involved in conversations about College resources and have helped direct $5 million in improvements across all campuses.

The ceremony concluded with the lighting of electric candles, which symbolizes the power of community, the pursuit of knowledge, and the desire to serve students and the campuses.
