Broward College Celebrates 500 Years of Florida History

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (August 20, 2013) – Broward College and the Florida Humanities Council will celebrate Florida’s 500th anniversary by presenting “Dreamers & Schemers: An Evening with Great Floridians,” at Broward College’s Fine Arts Theatre, 3501 SW Davie Road, Davie, on Friday, September 6 at 6:30 p.m. 

The stage show explores Florida’s rich history through thoughtful reflection and dialogue with the help of trained actors portraying notable Floridians. Guests will go back in time to hear industrialist Henry Flagler, Governor Napoleon Bonaparte Broward, and Everglades defender Marjory Stoneman Douglas declare their dreams for a state’s destiny. After the show, guests are invited to participate in a Q&A and discuss the program’s themes and the impact of industry and environmentalism on Florida.
