FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (October 16, 2013) – Two pianists—celebrated musician Gustavo Romero and Broward College Professor Jure Rozman—will join University of Miami percussionist Svet Stoyanov at Broward College’s Bailey Hall, 3501 Davie Road, Bldg. 4, Davie, on Saturday, November 2 at 8 p.m. The program will include works by Shostakovich, Viñao and Ravel, culminating with a performance of Stravinsky’s "The Rite of Spring," the celebrated and controversial masterpiece which celebrates its centennial this year.
Romero has a stellar reputation for both the technical brilliance and interpretive depth of his playing, as well as his commitment to an in-depth exploration of individual composers. In addition to an extensive performing schedule, he serves as a faculty member at the University of North Texas.
Slovenian pianist Rozman currently serves as an assistant professor of piano at Broward College. Parallel to his teaching duties, he has been active as a recitalist, soloist, chamber musician and lecturer both in Europe and the United States. During his time in South Florida, he has established himself as a sought-after collaborator, performer and a driving force behind instrumental studies at Broward College.
Stoyanov is an assistant professor of instrumental performance and program director of percussion at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. Praised by the New York Times for his “understated but unmistakable virtuosity” and a “winning combination of gentleness and fluidity,” Bulgarian-born Stoyanov is a winner of the 2003 Concert Artists Guild International Competition. He will be assisted by members of University of Miami's Frost Percussion Group.
Tickets for the event are $10 for general admission and $5 for seniors. Broward College students with valid ID may receive two complimentary tickets to the show. To purchase tickets, visit the Bailey Hall Box Office, call 954-201-6884 or purchase online at www.baileyhall.org.
