Broward College to Commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life and legacy, Broward College will host a series of special events before and after the national holiday on Jan. 20. All events are free. (Note: Broward College will be closed — no classes, all offices closed — on Monday, Jan. 20.)

"Eyes on the Prize" tells the definitive story of the civil rights era from the point of view of the ordinary men and women whose extraordinary actions launched a movement that changed the fabric of American life, and embodied a struggle whose reverberations continue to be felt today. Broward College's North Campus will host a luncheon to honor and remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event will include inspirational stories, videos and student's perspectives of King's influence. For more information, call 954-201-2009.

This revealing documentary uses rare and largely unseen film footage and photographs to explore the life and legacy of one of the most influential Americans of the 20th Century.
