These fine BC students will be working on projects under the President's Malaria Initiative at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Chagas disease (American Trypanosomiasis) lab at the Division of Parasitic Diseases and Malaria in Atlanta, GA.

Projects will include conducting CDC and WHO bioassays to determine resistance to and efficacy of vector control methods; bednet procedures and effectiveness; and determining modes of vector resistance using biochemical and genetic methodologies. The research they will be a part of will save countless lives!

Please thank the Foundation for funding this excellent opportunity for Broward College and our students.
A side note of pride: we are the only Florida Institution with students in this division of the CDC, and only one of three nationwide.

Floyd was born in Margarita, Venezuela but moved to Panama after his first month of life. Panama was beautiful considering he grew up in the archipelago. When Floyd is not busy he does things that make me feel alive, like playing instruments (guitar, drums) at a bonfire or kayak around the bay although not very often. He decided to pursue science with a goal to end up in medicine in the Peace Corps /doctors beyond borders.

Sean Moore graduated in 2012 from SUNY Stony Brook with a BA in Political Science and Journalism and is currently changing career goals by taking pre-medical classes at Broward College. He currently works at Memorial Hospital Pembroke ED, and has participated in AIDS community education and outreach programs. In his spare time he likes photography, reading, and travel. "In addition to wanting to become a doctor, Sean also hopes to own a llama farm."
