Broward College Professors Available to Discuss YesAllWomen Hashtag

Fort Lauderdale, FL (May 28, 2014) – Following the recent shooting and stabbing rampage in Isla Vista, California, a beach town adjacent to University of California, Santa Barbara, Broward College has the following experts available to discuss the impact of the event, including the creation of the popular Twitter hashtag #YesAllWomen, an attempt to draw attention to the sexism and violence women face daily. This type of activism and awareness has spread from college campuses to the White House, with over one million tweets so far.
Tonietta Walters, a professor of philosophy and ethics, is available to explain how #YesAllWomen is a meeting between the concerns of mental illness and misogyny in relation to violence, as well as how it provides a viral space for women to tell their personal stories while spreading awareness.
