FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (August 26, 2014)– The Broward College District Board of Trustees (BOT) has appointed John A. Benz as chair and Pamela Stephany as vice chair. The new officers were elected during a Board meeting earlier this month when Trustee Sean C. Guerin’s term ended as chair after serving for five years in the position.
“It is an honor to be appointed as the chair to the Board of Trustees,” said Benz. “I am excited to be serving in this capacity, and I look forward to guiding the College and assisting in its development during this exciting time.”
Benz, who served on the Board since 2010, has more than 25 years of experience working in various capacities for Memorial Healthcare System, and currently serves as the senior vice president and chief strategic officer. He also serves as the president/CEO of South Florida Community Care Network, a Broward community-based health plan owned by Broward Health and the Memorial Healthcare System.
She was senior vice president for Bank Julius Baer and vice president at Bank of Boston, where she worked and lived in Southeast Asia and South America. Stephany has served on the Board since 2011.
“Trustee Benz and Trustee Stephany both have strong leadership credentials, as well as a passion for higher education,” said Broward College President J. David Armstrong, Jr. “We appreciate their commitment to the College and look forward to their future contributions as chair and vice chair, respectively.”
