Broward County’s Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes to Speak at Broward College

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (September 5, 2014) – Brenda Snipes, Broward County's Supervisor of Elections, will meet with Broward College students on Thursday, September 11 at 11 a.m., at the College’s Central Campus, 3501 Davie Road, Davie, to discuss the constitution and the importance of voting.

This event, which is free and open to the public, is part of a series of civic engagement events hosted by the College titled “Educate, Engage, Enrich Florida.” The events are comprised of topics including education, healthcare, environmental politics, energy policy, equity, women’s rights issues, and will coincide with Florida’s gubernatorial debate, which will take place on Wednesday, October 15, at Broward College’s Bailey Hall, also located on Central Campus.

Snipes, who is committed to improving voter education, awareness and outreach, has served as supervisor of elections in Broward County since 2003. Since her appointment, she has overseen several elections, and under her leadership, more than 90,000 local high school and college students have registered to vote. Snipes is a member of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE), where she served as co- chairperson of the strategic planning committee and co-chair of the Continuing Education Program (CEP) for supervisors and their staff.
