Broward College Takes on Nationally Ranked Eastern Florida in Crucial Men’s Soccer Match

PEMBROKE PINES, FL (September 29, 2014) -- Broward College’s men’s soccer team will clash with Eastern Florida State College on Friday, October 10, at 6 p.m. at Broward College’s Judson A. Samuels South Campus Soccer Complex, 7200 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines, in the first of three crucial games to determine who represents the state in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) 2014 playoffs. Broward College will be offering free food, beverages and giveaways to all fans in attendance. Admission and parking at the game is free.

As the only two men’s soccer teams in NJCAA’s Region 8, the team representing the region must post a winning record against the other team to advance.

“It’s true at every level in any sport – NFL, NBA, Major League Baseball, any of them – a big crowd is the home team advantage,” said Munga Eketebi, coach of the Broward College Seahawks. “Fans will certainly be treated to two great teams playing a high caliber level of soccer. Both teams have good speed and skills, exactly where they should be for nationally ranked teams.

“This Seahawks team is getting better every day,” said Eketebi. “Their mentality for the game is increasing. We’ve already had two games against nationally-ranked teams, and the players have shown they can play with the best.”

The Seahawks are paced by a trio of freshmen, including forwards Christopher Dessin (North Miami) and Nehemiah Perry (Hamden, Conn.), and midfielder Santiago Schmid (Miami).
