Broward College Hosts Reception to Mark 2014 Florida Gubernatorial Debate

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Nov. 7, 2014) – Broward College President J. David Armstrong, Jr., hosted a reception for nearly 100 College supporters and community leaders the evening of the 2014 Florida Gubernatorial Debate, held at Broward College’s A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie. The event provided Broward College the opportunity to showcase its many civic engagement events leading up to the debate, and provided a forum for students and staff, as well as members of the community, to engage in discourse related to Florida’s future. 

“We were so pleased to invite members of the community and beyond to the Broward College campus to highlight our excellent programs and activities,” said Nancy Botero, vice president of advancement and foundation executive director. “Serving as the center for political debate and civic engagement, the College had a unique opportunity to perform a service of great value to the state of Florida.”

The reception preceded the 2014 Florida Gubernatorial Debate at Broward College’s Bailey Hall. In the debate audience, there were approximately 850 attendees, including 125 Broward College students, staff and faculty members. The debate was carried live on TV, radio and websites across the state.
