Broward College Basketball Coach Bob Starkman Named to FCCAA Hall of Fame

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Jan. 30, 2015) – The Florida Community College Activities Association’s (FCCAA) Hall of Fame has selected Broward College Men’s Basketball Head Coach Bob Starkman for Hall of Fame induction. A special induction ceremony will be held in March during the Region VIII/FCSAA Tournament at the College of Central Florida in Ocala. Starkman will also be recognized at the Miami Dade College vs. Broward College men’s basketball game at the Mayer Gymnasium on Broward College’s A. Hugh Adams Central Campus, 3501 Davie Road, Davie, on Feb. 18.

“To be inducted into the FCCAA Hall of Fame is an honor,” said Starkman. “It is a very personal achievement that can be attributed to more than the victories I’ve had on the basketball court. It’s about being a special part in our players’ lives, celebrating their continued success and life accomplishments well after they left the basketball court.”

The FCCAA Hall of Fame is comprised of administrators, coaches, advisers, officials, student-athletes and other nominees who have contributed a minimum of 10 years to the FCCAA or one of its member institutions. Inductees have been selected by their peers on the merits of their contributions and achievements, as well as other significant accomplishments. 

Starkman came to Broward College in 1997 as the assistant women’s basketball coach. In 2000 and 2001, he coached the Broward College women’s basketball team, and in 2001, he was named as the Men’s basketball head coach. Throughout his tenure as head coach, Starkman’s teams have won two conference tournament championships, three conference season championships and have made five state tournament appearances.
