Broward College Hosts Authors Percival Everett and Sabina Berman as a Part of wRites of Spring

  FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (March 18, 2015) – As part of a three-day, annual literary festival “wRites of Spring,” Broward College will host author readings by Percival Everett on Wednesday, March 25 and Sabina Berman on Thursday, March 26, at the College’s North Campus, 1000 Coconut Creek Blvd., Coconut Creek, Omni Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. 

“wRites of Spring” will take place from Tuesday, March 24 through Thursday, March 26. This year’s festival will primarily focus on the two works of Everett and Berman, and will include a film screening, as well as several faculty and student presentations focusing on the theme of satire. Percival Everett is a distinguished professor of English at the University of Southern California and the author of nearly thirty books, including “Erasure,” “Glyph,” and “I Am Not Sidney Poitier.” He is the recipient of an Academy Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award, the Believer Book Award, and the 2006 PEN USA Center Award for Fiction. 

Sabina Berman is Mexico’s most commercially successful and critically acclaimed playwright. She was born in Mexico in 1954 to an Eastern European Jewish family. Through humor and irony, Berman tackles the issues of diversity in her body of work. She has garnered several awards for her film scripts, poetry and prose. She is a four-time winner of the Mexican National Theatre Prize. Her critically acclaimed novel, “Me Who Dove into the Heart of the World,” is her first novel.
