Innovation Hub at Broward College to Host Inaugural Startup Grind Fort Lauderdale Event

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (June 22, 2015) – To provide the local startup community the opportunity to network and attend intimate discussions with successful startup entrepreneurs, the Innovation Hub at Broward College is hosting the first Startup Grind Fort Lauderdale chapter monthly event. The event will feature Broward College alumna and business owner Paula Celestino on Thursday, June 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. at 6400 N.W. 6th Way, Fort Lauderdale. Tickets can be purchased at http://bit.ly/1TBs34I.

“It is exciting to see the growth of the business community here in Fort Lauderdale, and Startup Grind provides an excellent opportunity to nurture that growth,” said Madison Stanford, chapter director of Startup Grind Fort Lauderdale and co-managing partner of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers professional soccer team. “I am very fortunate to have Broward College as a partner in this initiative.”

Paula Celestino, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a social entrepreneur with a passion for new technologies and social innovation. She is the COO of Crea7ive.com, an award-winning branding agency, and founder and CEO of Kloset Karma. Her fascination for sustainability and collaborative consumption inspired her to create Kloset Karma, a boutique app that uses an alternative currency of “Karma Points” to shop from one another’s closets.

“Since its opening earlier this year, the Innovation Hub has aimed to support the ever-growing entrepreneurial community in South Florida,” said Enrique Triay, director of the Innovation Hub at Broward College.” We are honored to host this event to connect and inspire local innovators and startups.”

In January, Broward College launched the Innovation Hub, designed to be a mixed-use business incubator, focused on housing a dynamic community of entrepreneurs, start-ups, mentors, advisors and investors, and serving as a one-stop resource for business owners, innovators and committed individuals pursuing their entrepreneurial ambitions.

Startup Grind is a global startup community, powered by Google for Entrepreneurs, that is designed to educate, inspire and connect entrepreneurs. Events are hosted monthly in more than 150 cities and 65 countries, featuring successful local founders, innovators, educators and investors who share personal stories and lessons learned on the road to building great companies.
