Broward College Visual and Performing Arts Department Presents 'Raisin in the Sun'

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (October 15, 2015) – Broward College’s Visual & Performing Arts Department will present an entertaining and engaging theatrical performance of Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin in the Sun” at Broward College’s A. Hugh Adams Central Campus Fine Arts Theatre, Bldg. 6, 3501 S.W. Davie Road, Davie, from Thursday, October 29 through Sunday, November 8.

One of the most powerful and beloved American plays ever written, “A Raisin in the Sun” tells the story of the Younger family’s struggle for dignity and a better life, and the backlash that erupts when they try to move beyond their oppressive Chicago tenement home. Set just prior to the Civil Rights movement in the early 1950’s, the story centers on the divergent dreams of three generations of the Younger family. The tensions and prejudice they face form this ground-breaking American drama, and their heroic struggle to retain dignity in a harsh and changing world is a timeless document of hope and inspiration.

“Raisin in the Sun,” will take place on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets cost $10 for general admission, and $5 for all seniors, students and Broward College employees. For additional information, visit http://browardvpa.com or 954-201-6884.
