Broward College’s Art and Design Students Present Level Up

Davie, FL (April 12, 2016) – After two years of intense study and creative growth, students graduating this spring from Broward College's Art and Design Department will exhibit their best pieces during the upcoming show, Level Up, April 26-28 at the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus.

The student-chosen theme for the show, Level Up, embodies the essence of the moment for these promising young artists. The Portfolio Preparation and Exhibition course helps them prepare for the next level in their artistic education: Moving on to an institution that will grant a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree, leading to careers as professional artists and designers. Sixteen students will display the best of their drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and graphic design projects during the three-day show.

The Visual Art and Design department is in its second year of assisting graduating students with their portfolios for transfer to upper-level school to complete a BFA degree. Members of the first class from the spring of 2015 were accepted and/or are attending the California Institute of the Arts (formerly the Disney School), the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), and Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Members of this year's class have been accepted to the Art Academy University in San Francisco, SAIC, the Kansas City Art Institute, and the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.

"This is an exciting time for these students, and the art department at Broward College," said Leo Stitsky, art department professor and faculty coordinator for this year's student show. "This show allows them to share their hard work with friends, family, and the community, as well as prepare them for the next step in their academic careers."

The exhibit is free, and open to the public. A closing reception will be held on Thursday, April 28, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Art Building (6) at the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus (3501 SW Davie Road, Davie). The Art Building is located on the southwest corner of the campus, diagonally across from the parking garage.
