Broward College Celebrates Hall of Distinction Inducteesand Endowed Teaching Chair Recipients
Fort Lauderdale, FL (Friday, September 30, 2016) - Broward College inducted six alumni into its Hall of Distinction and recognized five faculty members who received Endowed Teaching Chairs at its September 23 breakfast, “Broward College Hall of Distinction: Recognizing Excellence within and beyond the Classroom.”
“We are so proud to recognize these six outstanding alumni for their valuable contributions to our community,” said Nancy R. Botero, executive director of the Broward College Foundation and vice president for advancement for Broward College. “They join an illustrious list of honored alumni which includes a state governor, a New York Times best-selling author, and representatives from a wide range of professions. We offer heartfelt congratulations to each Hall of Distinction inductee.”
The Hall of Distinction inductees
- Amos Ford, Brandage, LLC, CEO and Founder, Tofani Product Manager, Service to the College
- Michael S. Long, Broward Partnership Chief Development Officer, Lighthouse Point City Commissioner, community Service
- Taren Ruggiero, Holy Cross Hospital Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Professional Merit
- Scott Russell, Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Captain, Professional Merit
- Kingman D. Schuldt, Greater Naples Fire Rescue District Fire Chief and District Administrator, professional merit
- Cheryl-Dene Spring, Managing Partner of Solaris Law Group, P.A., Professional Merit
In addition to the Hall of Distinction recognitions, the breakfast celebrated the Endowed Teaching Chair recipients, recognizing outstanding teaching and commitment to academic excellence.
“We were the first community college in the nation to raise private dollars to recognize outstanding teaching, service to the College and commitment to academic excellence through our Endowed Teaching Chair Program,” said Dr. Linda Howdyshell, college provost and senior vice president for academics and student success. “It has since become a wonderful tradition at Broward College.”
