Innovation takes center stage for the second BC Hackathon hosted from October 14 to 15 at the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie, Fla. The coding contest is designed to challenge students to collaborate in teams, build and present within 24 hours. Last year, more than 75 students from Broward College and neighboring schools took part in the challenge. The “Fall Faculty Exhibition” features recent works by adjunct faculty teaching in the Visual & Performing Arts department of Broward College. The exhibit, on display through November 2, includes contributors who are nationally recognized artists.  Various media and disciplines will be spotlighted including painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, photography and installation. Broward College Village Square kicks off its series of non-partisan debates featuring guest speakers discussing their views on various issues facing the community. October will focus on the topic, “Post Traumatic Election Syndrome: Can the Political Parties Survive the Politics of Hate and the Anti-Establishment Movement?” WPLG Local-10 reporter Glenna Milberg will moderate the panel. Broward College joins Florida Atlantic University, Nova Southeastern University, Broward Technical Colleges, Broward County Magnet/Innovative Programs Schools and other partners for the 4th Annual Block Party for Higher Education. The “Future Environments” visiting artist series kicks off with Kate Helms for a free lecture on the relationship between art, science and nature. Broward College Welcomes Disney Institute for One-Day Seminar Titled “Transforming Your Organization- Disney’s Approach to Quality Service”

A sold-out audience of professionals attended the “How to Transform Your Organization through Disney’s Approach to Quality Service” on Thursday, September 22 at the Omni Auditorium on the Broward College North Campus in Cypress Creek, Fla. The day-long customer service program was hosted by the Disney Institute representatives, who provided business insight and time-tested examples from Disney parks and resorts worldwide that attendees could find inspiration in when it comes to enhancing the customer experience of their own company.
