Davie, FL (November 15, 2016) – Bailey Hall has announced the new dates for two events that were postponed from the first week in October due to weather conditions expected from Hurricane Matthew.
The comedy Donald Cried, part of the South Arts Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Films, will now be screened on Saturday, January 28 at 7:30 p.m. After leaving a working class hometown to reinvent himself as a Wall Street mover and shaker, a man returns home 15 years later and is forced to turn to his former childhood friend and neighbor for help after becoming stranded without his wallet. Following a screening of the film, the filmmaker Jesse Wakeman will engage the audience in a discussion about the film and his work.
The Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers is a program of South Arts. Southern Circuit screenings are funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The film contains adult language.
All originally issued tickets to Donald Cried will be honored and ticket holders who cannot attend may transfer their tickets with no additional fee to any other film in the series: NUTS! (Nov. 10), Shake ‘Em on Down (Feb. 16), Some Beasts (March 30) and Hunky Dory (April 20). Tickets to Donald Cried are available for $9-12.
Marking its 13th year, the Delray String Quartet will perform at Bailey Hall on Wednesday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m. The program will feature Beethoven’s “String Quartet in F Major, op. 14, no. 1” and Walter Piston’s “String Quartet no. 1,” before the Delray String Quartet is joined by special guest Dr. Catherine Lan on piano to perform César Franck’s “Piano Quintet in F Minor.”
Hailed as a “World-Class String Quartet” by The Palm Beach Post, the Delray String Quartet explores a variety of genres and time periods, including some of the latest quartets. Its recording of Kenneth Fuchs’s “Quartet No. 5” for the Naxos American Classics label was released in 2013 to excellent reviews and, also for Naxos, it recently recorded the late string quartets of Grammy Award-winning American composer Richard Danielpour.
All originally issued tickets to the Delray String Quartet will be honored and ticket holders who cannot attend may exchange their tickets for another performance in the Chamber Music Series. Tickets are available for $8-$15.
