Dunn is the author of a number of books including "A History Through Black Eyes" and "Black Miami in the Twentieth Century". The former Florida International University professor and documentarian has appeared on a variety of television news programs and cited in a number of publications. Willie Stewart leads an interactive workshop that highlights the significance of the drums in African culture. Stewart’s last event at Broward College was well attended and drew much praise. Rastafarians refer to themselves as "I and I", which speaks to their connection with God and the "other". Inspired by the song i by Kendrick Lamar, the core of "I and I: The Politics of Self-Love" focuses on self-acceptance and love of self as a revolutionary act through portraits of influential figures. "Space Apes" is a one-man show about an inmate re-entry program counselor speaking his mind on topics such as massive incarceration and the prison industrial complex, while exposing his relationship with bedeviled executives. The Haitian-born Jean-Baptiste grew up in Miami and attended the New World School of the Arts performing arts program. He has performed locally and was the subject of a short documentary produced by WLRN for the Miami International Film Festival. Tickets are $10 for the general public. "March of the Penguins" – Live Broward Symphony

Broward College offers Associate of Science degree in New Media Communication
Broward College recently announced it will offer an Associate of Science degree in New Media Communication. The program will address the increasing demand among media agencies and local businesses for employees equipped with the latest technical, creative and evaluative knowledge needed to manage large and small scale communication. Classes will begin in fall of 2017. Applications are currently being accepted for the Fall 2017 semester.
