Award-Winning Chamber Trio Will Perform at Bailey Hall

Davie, FL (February 3, 2017) – Applauded as “one of America’s finest young chamber groups” by Strand Magazine, The Claremont Trio will be performing at Bailey Hall on Sunday, February 12 at 3:00 p.m.

Sought after for its thrillingly virtuosic and richly communicative performances, the Trio was the first winner of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award and the only piano trio ever to win the Young Concert Artists International Auditions.

Formed in 1999 at the Juilliard School, the Trio features twin sisters Emily Bruskin on violin and Julia Bruskin on cello with pianist Andrea Lam. Based in New York City near their namesake, Claremont Avenue, the Trio continues to maintain a strong New York presence with frequent performances at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Columbia University's Miller Theatre, Music Mondays and Symphony Space. They also appear regularly at festivals such as Ravinia, Saratoga, Mostly Mozart, Caramoor, Rockport, Bard, Orford, and Norfolk.

The Trio has just released a new recording, Spheres, featuring three trios by Robert Paterson: Sun Trio, Moon Trio and Elegy for two cellos and piano. Deeply committed to expanding the trio repertoire, the Trio has an ongoing collaboration with innovative composer and violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain and has commissioned new trios by Nico Muhly, Gabriela Lena Frank, Mason Bates, Sean Shepherd, Helen Grime, Judd Greenstein, Donald Crockett, Robert Paterson, Paul Chihara, Sharon Farber, Howard Frazin, Daniel Kellogg, and Hillary Zipper.

In reviewing a concert by the Trio, The Washington Post reported, “Claremont is a sensitive group that plays with passion...As finely as the trio performs dramatics, it is in the execution of atmospheric material that it is most
captivating.”
