Bailey Hall's Chamber Series Presents Cabaret in Paris

Davie, FL (February 27, 2017) – Bailey Hall continues its Chamber Series with Cabaret in Paris featuring cellist Julia Bruskin of the Claremont Trio and pianists Dr. Aaron Wunsch and Dr. Jure Rozman on Thursday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. 

The program will feature: Faure’s “Dolly Suite;” Satie’s “Morceaux En Forme de Poire;” Chabrier’s “Cortege Burlesque;” Debussy’s “L’isle Joyeuse,” “Masques” and Cello Sonata;” Poulenc’s Cello Sonata; and Boulanger’s “Three Pieces for Cello and Piano.”

“Three of chamber music’s finest performers bring their own unique talents to the stage creating a fusion that keeps this genre of music alive and thriving,” said Dr. Dan Barnard, associate dean of cultural affairs and director of Bailey Hall. 

Bruskin is a founding member of the critically acclaimed Claremont Trio, which took first prize in the 2001 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and was also awarded the first ever Kalichestein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award. One of the premiere cellists of her generation, she performed Samuel Barber’s Cello Concerto with conductor Jahja Ling at Avery Fisher Hall and has also been soloist with the Nashville Symphony, Utah Symphony, Virginia Symphony, and Pacific Symphony among others. She completed the five-year double degree program at Juilliard and Columbia University and is on the faculty at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College.

Praised for his bold interpretations and communicative sensitivity, pianist Wunsch appears regularly on concert stages throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. He has performed in Avery Fisher and Alice Tully halls at Lincoln Center, Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood, Royal Albert Hall in London, at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, and as soloist with the Yale and Colonial symphonies, among others. He is currently a full-time faculty member at the Juilliard School.

Curator of the Bailey Hall Chamber Music Series, Rozman has performed as a soloist with several orchestras in Europe and the U.S. and has frequently presented solo and chamber music recitals here and abroad in Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Croatia and the Czech Republic. A native of Slovenia, he has made several audio and video recordings for Slovene National Radio, including works by Brahms, Del Tredici and Slovene composers Ramovš, Škerjanc and Matičič. His recognitions as a musician include winning first prizes in the 1995 and 2001 Slovene National Piano Competition.
