A Musical Journey at Bailey Hall

Bailey Hall Chamber Series Presents "A Musical Journey"

(Featuring Solo Recital Works Through the Centuries)

Davie, FL (March 14, 2017) – The Bailey Hall Chamber Series presents Dr. Jure Rozman performing  "A Musical Journey" of solo piano recital works which span centuries and styles on Sunday, March 19 at 3 p.m.

The program begins in 1727 with selections from "Suite in A Minor" composed by J. P. Rameau which is followed by Beethoven's "Piano Sonata in F sharp Major, op. 78" created in 1809.  C. Franck's "Prelude, Choral and Fugue," composed in the late 19th century, is performed before the program culminates in two of L. M. Škerjanc's mid-20th century works "Sonata for Piano" and "12 Preludes."

Curator of the Bailey Hall Chamber Music Series, Rozman has performed as a soloist with several orchestras in Europe and the U.S. and has frequently presented solo and chamber music recitals here and abroad in Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Croatia and the Czech Republic. A native of Slovenia, he has made several audio and video recordings for Slovene National Radio, including works by Brahms, Del Tredici and Slovene composers Ramovš, Škerjanc and Matičič. His recognitions as a musician include winning first prizes in the 1995 and 2001 Slovene National Piano Competition.

Rozman will be performing on the Bailey Hall Steinway piano which he travelled to the Steinway headquarters in Queens to select.

"The addition of the Steinway and the acoustic changes that were made to Bailey Hall in the past few years have made it an ideal venue to present Chamber music," said Dr. Dan Barnard, associate dean of cultural affairs and director of Bailey Hall.
