The Palm Beach Symphony Performs Florida Premiere of a New Work by André Previn at Bailey Hall

Maestro Ramón Tebar makes his Bailey Hall debut

Davie, FL (March 17, 2017) – The Florida premiere of a new work by André Previn highlights the “Winter Memory” program by The Palm Beach Symphony at Bailey Hall on Tuesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m.

Previn’s “Can Spring be far Behind?” was commissioned by the Eastern Musical Festival and had its world premiere last July in Greensboro, NC.  Conductor, composer and pianist Previn has received a number of awards and honors, including Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Kennedy Center, the London Symphony Orchestra, Gramophone Classic FM and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award from The Recording Academy.

The “Winter Memory” program performed at Bailey Hall also features Gershwin’s beloved “An American in Paris,” and Shostakovich’s “Symphony No. 10, E minor, Op. 93.”

The performance marks the Bailey Hall debut of the Palm Beach Symphony and Ramón Tebar who will conduct the program. Considered one of the leading Spanish conductors of his generation, Maestro Tebar is in his sixth season as artistic and ​music director of the Palm Beach Symphony and also serves as principal conductor of Florida Grand Opera and artistic director of Opera Naples.

“The Palm Beach Symphony has experienced unprecedented growth and recognition in the community and within the industry,” said David McClymont, Executive Director of the Palm Beach Symphony. “We are thrilled to expand our world-class concert performances throughout South Florida to include Bailey Hall at Broward College."  

The Palm Beach Symphony was founded in 1974 in recognition of the need for a professional orchestra in Palm Beach. The orchestra is celebrated for delivering spirited and exciting performances led by Tebar while the organization continues to expand its educational and community programs with children’s concerts, student coaching and master classes, instrument donations, and free public concerts.   The Symphony performs in a variety of historically important and modern venues including the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, Mar-a-Lago, The Society of the Four Arts and Benjamin Hall.

The flagship venue of Broward College, Bailey Hall is located on the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus at 3501 Davie Rd. in Davie and offers free parking.
