Broward-College to Offer Career Themed Summer Kids & Teen College at its Campuses and Centers

Fort Lauderdale, FL (May 24, 2017) – Parents looking for new and exciting summer activities for their children will find it through the Broward College Kids & Teens College (KTC). In its 30th year, the Broward College KTC program will provide a unique opportunity for students, ages 8-15 years to experience college. The six-week program offers quarter, half, and full days from June 19 to August 4. Classes are scheduled to meet once per week and most run two hours.
“It’s never too early to start thinking about careers and exploring interests,” said Diane Peart, director of Continuing Education at Broward College. “With the KTC summer camp, students will be given a rare glimpse into life as a college student through fun activities on an actual college campus. They will have the option to choose their ‘course schedule’ with classes that will build the skills and habits children need to prepare them for success in school.”
Kids will explore their career interests and discover their passion for in-demand careers in South Florida. Courses are taught by Broward County Educators and industry experts at one of the seven Broward College main campuses and centers. Classes are broken into categories – or pathways - and include the following academic areas:
Arts - Embrace your creative side by selecting classes including:
- Creative Writing
- Design, Photography & Fashion
- Graphic Design with Photoshop
Business - Build your entrepreneurial spirt with business courses including:
- Real Estate Investor
- Shark Tank – Business Innovation
Education - Get inspired to teach with courses including:
- Become a Teacher
- Real Life Algebra
Health - Gain knowledge in medical professions through hands-on classes such as:
- Nursing Careers
- Vision Care Opticianry
Aviation - See your love of planes take flight in the following three classes:
- Aviation Camp: Air Traffic Controller
- Drone Pilots
- Aviation Camp: Young Pilots
STEM – Set your inner geek free with fun classes including:
