Aniela McGuinness will speak about her experiences as a breast cancer survivor A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie, Fla. McGuinness, an actress and one-woman show performer, gained worldwide attention for her lifestyle blog. Titled “My Breast Choice,” the blog explores the impact breast cancer, a double mastectomy and chemo can have on a woman’s body. The Broward College alum also co-founded “Cancer Grad,” another online resource that provides an alternate view of cancer to patients, caregivers and their supporters. Spend an afternoon learning more about breast cancer with Cara Kondaki, clinical social worker for the department of oncology at Cleveland Clinic Florida, who will speak on the topic of prevention and screening. This event is free and open to the public.

Broward College Raising Funds for Breast Cancer 5K Fundraisers

Stefan Dacosta, student life coordinator for the Willis Holcombe Center/Online Campus, has set up team pages for two local 5K events raising funds for breast cancer awareness. Broward College will form a team and raise funds for Making Strides against Breast Cancer 5K in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale on October 29, and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at Bayfront Park in Miami on October 15. Broward College Student Life welcomes community members to join the fun by registering or donating.
