Led by the world-renowned theater artist and director Teo Castellanos and backed by one of Miami’s most well-known DJ’s, Brimstone 127, the Combat Hippies is a group of military veteran performing artists that strives to draw awareness to post-traumatic stress. Broward College, CareerSource Broward and Mission United will be holding the 2016 "Paychecks for Patriots" career fair Wednesday, November 9 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Broward College North Campus Omni Auditorium. The Vet Center, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) from the Department of Defense, Broward County Board of Commissioners, Veterans' Service Officers and veteran support organizations are scheduled to be on hand.  More than 70 “veteran-friendly” employers will be looking to hire.

Take-out Tuesday, a part of The Village Square programming, kicks off its season with panelists tackling the topic of “My Big Fat Gay Marriage: Finding Middle Ground with Religious Conservatives.” Speakers will include Rabbi Edwin Farber, Beth Torah a Benny Rok; Dr. Abdul Samra, Islamic Center of Miami; Nadine Smith, CEO of Equality Florida, and Howard Simon, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida. Broward College Presented with 2016 Chancellor’s Best Practice Award
Broward College was honored as one of the recipients of the 2016 Chancellor’s Best Practice Awards at the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) Annual Meeting and Conference hosted at the Buena Vista Palace in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The institution was recognized for its Corporate Alliance Partnership program, which nurtures a corporate relationship that addresses the future demand for workers to support workforce needs in the business community. The award is presented to colleges that are “Igniting the Power of Performance through innovation, impact and improvement.”
