Cooking Competition Paired Education Pathway Students and Broward County Public School Students with Local Restaurants
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (December 18, 2017) – Broward College's inaugural Next Top Chef event was a recipe for success. Held on November 10 at Broward College's South Campus, the cooking demonstration perfectly paired Education Pathway students and Broward County public school elementary, middle and high school ESE students with several popular chefs from South Florida restaurants including: Publix, Fresh Market, HipPOPS, Que Perros, Chick-Fil-A, BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, Epic Bites, Subway, Starbucks and Valley Food Services.
The simple, yet delectably prepared meals, which helped students gain real-world culinary skills, were evaluated by a panel of esteemed judges including: Patti Good, Broward County School Board Member; Josh Levy, Mayor of the City of Hollywood, Mike Mayo, Sun Sentinel Dining Critic and Myriam Masihy, reporter at Telemundo. In a unanimous decision, each student was declared a winner in the fun-filled event which not only cooked up delicious meals but blended teamwork with cooperation, a must in any top kitchen.
