Bailey Hall Presents “The Triplets of Belleville – Live” Composer leads a live orchestra as the film screens

Davie, Fla. (January 24, 2018) – Bailey Hall presents The Triplets of Belleville – Live, screening the movie that was nominated for Academy Awards as Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. Composer Benoit Charest will lead Le Terrible Orchestre de Belleville in a live performance of his original score on Saturday, February 3 at 7:30 p.m.
"Music is a key element of any film and certainly of one set in the jazz age," said Dr. Dan Barnard, Broward College associate dean of cultural affairs and director of Bailey Hall. "We are thrilled to be able to present the score's composer leading a live orchestra in what will be an great film experience."
The Triplets of Belleville - Live will transport audiences to the exciting streets of 1920s Paris and Le Jazz Hot. Kidnapped by mysterious, square-shouldered henchmen, a Tour de France cyclist is spirited across the ocean to the teeming metropolis of Belleville, leaving his nearsighted grandmother and faithful dog to follow his trail. After being taken in by a trio of eccentric jazz-era divas, the motley sleuths follow the clues to an underground speakeasy and end up entertaining the crowd as the chase is on.
Rolling Stone called the film "Extraordinary!... A bracing blend of silliness and sophistication! It's comic, touching and a visual knockout."
