Rick McCawley
Senior Professor, MFA, MA, Graphic Design Artificial Intelligence Expert
Rick McCawley, a distinguished Senior Professor of Graphic Design & Photography at Broward College for 23 years, is also renowned as a public speaker and expert on Artificial Intelligence. He serves as an advisor to the Advertising Federation of America and the City of Fort Lauderdale, contributing significantly to the School of Visual Arts’ MFA products of design program. His earlier career includes a 15-year tenure as a staff photographer for the Miami Herald, where he was part of the team that won a Public Service Pulitzer for coverage of Hurricane Andrew. A prolific author, McCawley has published over 30 books spanning topics like Graphic Design, Photography, and Fine Art. His expertise in digital tools is highlighted through his roles as an Adobe Community Expert, Adobe Express Ambassador, and consultant for Adobe products. McCawley’s influence extends to his work as a founding member, designer, and lecturer at the Miami Street Photography Festival hosted by the History Miami Museum. His academic contributions are evident in his curriculum design work for the Art Institute’s Graphic Design program and Barry University’s Digital Photography BS and MFA Program. McCawley’s academic achievements include an MA in Photography from Barry University and an MFA in Graphic Design from Florida Atlantic University.
